About

The St. Francis DeSales High School boys lacrosse team was formed in 2004. The 2011-12 school year is our ninth season and we are looking to build upon our past successes and the growing popularity of the sport in central Ohio and at St. Francis DeSales.

The Stallions Lacrosse Team moved to Division 2 in 2006 and will compete in this division again in 2011-12. There are three divisions for Ohio boys’ high school lacrosse named Division 1, 2, and Club. Each division will be further divided into regions. Our game schedule will be available in March 2012.

The Stallions Lacrosse Team is a varsity sport run by the parents of the players who play the sport and other volunteers who work to build this exciting sport at St. Francis DeSales High School. The club is self-sustaining and its purpose is to develop and promote a quality lacrosse team. As a varsity sport, all academic eligibility and student conduct codes apply.

The club is a legal 501(c)(3) organization and therefore all donations are tax deductible. The board members for the 2012 season are:

Mike Ciammaichella – President
Bruce McClary – Vice President
Dave Musci – Treasurer
John Blubaugh – Secretary

Playing Season
The lacrosse season is in the spring from March until May. The first conditioning practice starts in January without sticks. The first game is played on or after March 30th and the season ends near the end of May. The divisional tournaments begin in late May and end in the first week of June.

Team Practices
Team practices are mandatory and occur Monday-Friday and on selected Saturdays. Practices are normally conducted from approximately 5:15 pm – 7:15 pm during the week and on Saturday morning when they occur. There will be mandatory practices during spring break week. The team expects all players to be in attendance for practices and games. It is understandable that families usually take this opportunity to travel. However, there will be games right after spring break ends and the team must be competitive. Failure to attend the practice will result in lost playing time or other actions at the discretion of the coach.

Games
High school lacrosse games are now played on any day of the week. There will be between 12-15 games scheduled in our season. We usually have 1-2 games per week. Our schedule will be developed to play many teams in central Ohio. We must play all of the teams in our region and we will also play teams in other divisions with similar experience levels. High school games consist of 4-12 minute quarters and last approximately 90 minutes.

All home games are played at Alumni Stadium on the campus of St. Francis DeSales High School.
